How to Qualify an Industrial Valve Manufacturer in India: Factory, Testing and MDR Checklist

Two valve quotations can look almost identical.

Both may mention the same size, pressure class, material and standard. But after the purchase order is issued, the difference becomes clear. One supplier shares drawings, test plans and material records on time. The other creates follow-ups, document gaps and delivery uncertainty.

That is why qualifying an industrial valve manufacturer in India should start before the RFQ is released.

1. Check what is genuinely made in-house

Ask the industrial valves supplier which activities are controlled internally. This includes engineering, machining, assembly, pressure testing and inspection.

A factory visit is useful. So are photographs, machine lists and sample quality records. The aim is simple. You should know whether the supplier is manufacturing the valve or only coordinating it.

2. Review standards and material control

Credible valve manufacturers in India should be comfortable working with the required standards. Depending on the duty, this may include API, ASME, ISO, IBR, NACE or project-specific specifications.

Material control matters just as much. Ask how heat numbers are linked to material test certificates. Check whether body, bonnet, trim and bolting records remain traceable through machining and assembly.

3. Look beyond the test certificate

A test certificate is valuable only when the test system behind it is reliable.

Ask about hydro test benches, seat leak testing, functional checks and calibration of gauges. For critical duties, also ask about NDE capability, inspection procedures and witness-test arrangements.

A dependable industrial valve company should be able to explain its process clearly. It should not rely only on a final “tested” stamp.

4. Make MDR part of the qualification

The Manufacturer’s Data Record should not be treated as an afterthought.

A good MDR links drawings, MTCs, heat numbers, inspection records, test reports, calibration certificates and final release documents. This helps procurement, QA and site teams review the valve with confidence.

It also makes future maintenance and audits much easier.

5. Ask for delivery evidence

A supplier’s delivery promise should be supported by production planning, inspection milestones and dispatch records.

Before finalising an industrial valve supplier India, ask for examples of similar completed orders. Look for realistic lead times, clear communication and documented inspection release.

At IPC, the qualification conversation is kept practical. Buyers can review manufacturing scope, application engineering, testing discipline, traceability and MDR expectations before the order moves ahead.

The best RFQ does more than request a price.

It helps you select a valve partner who can prove capability, quality and delivery readiness.
